2021 Chardonnay, J McK Estate

95+ Points - Wine Advocate

A well-integrated nose of lemon meringue, brioche, spices and matchstick leads to a generous yet delightful palate with silky texture, intentional acid and ripe tree fruits. This wine is lush with balanced minerality. Pair with roasted chicken and herbaceous stuffing or mashed potatoes. And a great brie is always a good idea!

About this wine

The 2021 vintage was slow and steady, which allowed the fruit to gradually ripen, holding its acid and allowing it to develop complexity on the vine. The majority of the fruit was picked between mid-September and mid-October, with generous yet balanced yields.

We are so proud of our sustainability-farmed estate vineyard, JMcK. Planted with Wente clone Chardonnay, this vineyard is named after Anaba proprietor John’s two children, John Michael and McKenna. The cooling influence of the anabatic winds warrants the grapes a longer hang time during the growing season. This allows the fruit to slowly develop intense flavors while adding just the right touch of lushness to the final wine.

J McK Estate Vineyard

The J McK Estate Vineyard is located on our winery property in Carneros. The vineyard name is derived from Proprietor John Sweazey’s children, John Michael and McKenna. The climate on the estate is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The cooling influence of the anabatic winds allows the grapes a longer hang time prior to harvest, to slowly develop intense flavors while adding brightness and acidity to the final wine.
