2018 Pinot Noir, Sangiacomo Roberts Road
We are delighted to work with the Sangiacomo Family, third-generation farmers from Sonoma Valley, to source fruit from their prestigious Roberts Road Vineyard for this Pinot Noir.
This wine is consistently an Anaba favorite. Aromas of cherry cola, dusty rose, and sweet tobacco envelop the nose. On the palate hints of pomegranate, and raspberry. Soft tannins create structure and complexity. Pair this wine with cassoulet, mushroom risotto, or a fall evening in front of the fire.
Winemaker’s Notes
We are delighted to work with the Sangiacomo Family, third-generation farmers from Sonoma Valley, to source fruit from their prestigious Roberts Road Vineyard for this Pinot Noir. Located at the base of Sonoma Mountain at the far northern edge of the Petaluma Gap, the Roberts Road Vineyard experiences long, slow, and even growing seasons, perfect for a Burgundian-style Pinot Noir – rich yet delicate.
The Vineyard
For nearly half the day the vineyard is shrouded in fog. The vineyard is influenced by coastal breezes, lending itself to slow, even growing, and fruit development. The block of Pinot Noir for this bottling is in the flatlands at the base of Sonoma Mountain (on the western side) and features well-draining, silty gravel soils. 2018 harvest was slow and steady resulting in both decent yields and extraordinary flavors in the fruit.
